'Our aim is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their (finite) lives'. Death Cafes never involve agendas, advertising or set conclusions. Interesting conversations are guaranteed! Death Cafe is not for profit, with no intention of leading people.
Jon Underwood founded Death Café in 2011 based on the work of the late Swiss Sociologist and Ethnologist Bernard Crettaz.

Swan Song Community is a nurturing support network of people from all professions and ages living life fully, while supporting others, or currently primary carers for loved ones facing health challenges/end of life or facing the same challenges themselves. The goal is to alleviate isolation by providing compassionate support and resources both in-person and online. The focus is on fostering a supportive environment to help our members plan and prepare in advance for life's transitions, ensuring they and their loved ones can enjoy a full life while receiving holistic and dignified care.

Swan Song Community was inspired by Kate's life experiences, and her work as a Doula.
Along these journeys, Kate's learned the profound impact of discussing, planning, and documenting one's wishes to ensure holistic care during life's transitions.

"I created Swan Song Community in 2025.
I originally began Swan Song Journey, then this community, because of life and loss experiences, which has led me to continually finding my feet as a Doula.

The system that supposedly supports the sick, the ageing, end of life care, advance care planning etc. I came to realise has been and still is lacking. That is from looking after my parent and witnessing what my parents and other family/friends went through over many decades...

The journey so far has taught me about the profound impact of living fully, discussing, planning and documenting one's wishes for better holistic care, when facing life's transitions.
